Why Helping Youth Matters: A Biblical Perspective
The Call to Serve Our Neighbors At CENTER Ministries, our mission is rooted in the belief that geography should not determine a child’s destiny. Although the youth we serve in West Houston live less than two miles from Pines Presbyterian Church, they often live in a reality that is economically worlds away. From a biblical perspective, we believe we are called to bridge this gap through active, hands-on service.
Investing in the Next Generation
Our ministry was founded on the vision of creating a “Community Enhancement Network”. We follow the biblical mandate to care for the vulnerable by:
Providing a Sanctuary: We aim to provide a permanent, safe facility where youth can congregate and study, protected from the temptations and distractions of their immediate neighborhoods.
Relational Ministry: We believe in the power of presence. Our long-term goal is to support “apartment ministers” who live within the Bateswood and Sherwood
communities, ministering to youth in their daily lives.- Volunteering as Worship: Since CENTER is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff, every hour of mentoring and supervision provided is a direct expression of our volunteers’ faith and commitment to the community.
Conclusion
Helping youth is not just about charity; it is about recognizing the inherent value in every child and providing the spiritual and physical resources they need to thrive as God intended.
